During our two years in Washington D.C., One of Jaci's favorite things to do was to visit the Calder exhibit in the National Gallery. When I asked Jaci what it is she likes so much about Calder, she said "I love how he incorporates movement, fun and playfulness into his art. How he uses color and shadow. How he engages the viewer, and how he melds engineering concepts with artistic experience." She then went on to extoll the virtues of his work for another five minutes, but those three sentences are the limit of my transcribing skills.
www.calder.org states, "Calder did not originally set out to become an artist. He instead enrolled at the Stevens Institute of Technology after high school and graduated in 1919 with an engineering degree.
