Are you up for this DIY project? $35 is the base price. How much you spend beyond that depends on your needs, wants, and existing resources.
I purchased a:
Raspberry Pi 4, Model B w/4GB of RAM
power supply w/switch
a case w/fan
and a 64Gig SD card
all for just over $90 after taxes. Note that what I purchased was premium but, I did not need a keyboard, mouse or monitor. There are a couple reasons you would not need these:
You have them already (either completely extra or available to share between machines... think about switching "source" on your TV for instance).
You plan to remote in to the Raspberry Pi from another machine or mobile device (this is my situation).
I planned to use my Raspberry Pi as a Plex Media Server for my home, hence premium specs. I also needed storage for all the media files. I had a 3 Terabyte, USB 3.0 drive I used for this.
So, decide on your needs and wants, take stock of your existing resources, and then start researching. Find out what is out there, what others are using Raspberry Pis for, and what the experts are saying about what you might need for your purposes.
I suggest starting your research at the official raspberrypi.org web site and then branch out from there. I am happy to answer questions too, but don't consider me your personal tech support on this project. There are more than enough resources online to help anyone get the job done if they are willing to stick with it.

During my college years, one of my favorite things to do was code using an application called Mathematica, put out by Wolfram. Sometimes I coded for just for fun, other times for work and it was still fun! Since college, I haven't used Mathematica much. Between my professional endeavors not requiring it and the non-student price being a bit steep, Mathematica fell by the wayside.
Imagine my delight, a couple years ago, when I installed the Raspian OS on my first Raspberry Pi and discovered that Mathematica was included for free! Okay, I get it, some of you may really have to imagine that delight, but nonetheless, there it was for me!
I have shared one of my coding projects on my Mathematica on Raspberry Pi page (more to come soon). Each of them is a start and each could be made better and/or taken further. I'd love it if one you were inspired to do so. I'd love to see completely new and different projects come of this too!
