Differences in student opportunities and experiences give rise to differences in personal and professional trajectories. In recent decades, differences in opportunities to access and engage with tech have given rise to what has been deemed, The Digital Divide.
Although, closing this divide may begin with access to devices and internet bandwidth, it certainly does not end there. This is more than just an issue of access. After access comes the need for digital literacy.
Closing The Digital Divide requires a focus on digital equity, acknowledging differing needs and different individual challenges.
Digital equity can be and is being addressed on many levels and by a myriad of institutions and organizations. I am interested in taking a look at promoting digital equity through schools.
